Welcome to our sub-regional choice based lettings scheme

Introduction

We successfully run a choice based lettings system. We have also been working hard in partnership with others to improve our service to you. So we have:

  • formed a partnership with three other councils so we can create a sub-regional choice based lettings scheme
  • agreed a single banding scheme for all housing register applicants of each council
  • agreed new rules for calculating under-occupation and overcrowding when assessing your application for housing
  • introduced a new banding reason to cater for social and welfare aspects of your application
  • agreed guidelines on the types of property that will be advertised sub-regionally.

If you want full details of the scheme click here.

Enhanced Housing Options

This is an online form that you can complete to find the options for housing that are open to you.  It is easy to do and will present you with a document summarising your housing options, that you can save or print.

Number of Properties Being Advertised

Please note that there are very few properties being advertised in the current Choice Based Lettings cycle.

General Needs: There are only 2 three bedroom properties, 2 two bedroom houses and 1 one bedroom flat.
Sheltered Needs: There are only 3 one bedroom sheltered needs flats or bungalows.

If you are trying to apply and are told that you are not eligible for any properties this may be because there is nothing being advertised which is the right size or type for your household.

Due to the intense pressure on social housing in the Cherwell District this is likely to happen again in future cycles.
